Graphical Flight Planning

This feature lets you modify a route graphically using the Map View pane. Graphical route modification involves:

Modifying a route on the map

1. After completing the Basic Information section on the Create Flight Plan page, compute a route and click View on Map next to the computed route.
The Map View pane displays the selected route and the ROLL OVER TO VIEW/EDIT pane.

2. Hover the cursor over the ROLL OVER TO VIEW/EDIT pane.
The pane expands to display a list of routes.

3. Click Edit next to a route.
The editable waypoints and the route segments are displayed as icons on the map and the Map View footer displays the Original Route, Modified Route, Validate Route, Undo Previous and Exit options.

To replace an existing waypoint in a route

1. Drag and drop a waypoint to a new position.

2. If there is only one waypoint available within 5NM radius of the new position, the route is automatically modified.
Else
The Select Waypoints dialog box appears with a list of 10 nearest waypoints within 50NM radius of the new position. The waypoints are prioritized to list the VORs first, followed by the enroute fixes and then by the NDBs.

· Click Select next to the desired waypoint.

The Select Waypoints dialog box appears with a list of 10 nearest waypoints within 50NM radius of the new position. The waypoints are prioritized to list the VORs first, followed by the enroute fixes and then by the NDBs.

2. Click Select next to the desired waypoint..

To add a new waypoint in a route

1. Drag and drop the center () of a route segment.

2. If there is only one waypoint available in 5NM radius of dropped position, the route is automatically modified.
Else
The Select Waypoints dialog box appears with a list of 10 nearest waypoints within 50NM radius of the new position. The waypoints are prioritized to list the VORs first, followed by the enroute fixes and then by the NDBs.

· Click Select next to the desired waypoint.

To delete an existing waypoint in a route

· Click a waypoint and then click Delete.

Note:

· Waypoints on either side of the deleted waypoint are joined by a DCT segment.

· You cannot delete the Departure, Destination, and waypoints on the SID/STAR in a route.

To add a new SID/STAR in a route

1. Click a SID/STAR overlay.
The Select SIDs/STARs dialog box appears.

2. Select the desired SID or STAR.
The Selected SID/STAR is plotted on the map with unique transition waypoints.

3. Click a transition waypoint and then click Apply <SID/STAR Name.Transition>.

	Note:
	The existing SID/STAR on a route is automatically replaced when a new SID/STAR is selected.

To delete an existing SID/STAR in a route

· Click a SID/STAR transition waypoint and then click Delete Procedure.

	Note:
	When you delete a SID/STAR, the corresponding transition waypoints are also deleted.

To add/modify an airway in a route segment

1. Click a route segment.
The Select Airway dialog box appears and displays a list of airways.

2. Click Select next to the desired airway.

5. Click Validate Route to verify the modified route using the flight plan engine.

6. If the modifications are successfully verified, the message Route Validation Successful appears. Go to step 7
Or
If the modifications are not successfully verified, an < error > message appears. Go to step 4 and modify the route as needed.

7. Click Select Route.
The modified route is displayed in the User Defined route under the Routes & Performance pane.
