Graphical Flight Route Modification

This feature lets you modify a route graphically using the Map View pane. Graphical route modification involves:

·    Modifying the route using the graphical interface

·    Validating the modified route with the flight plan engine

·    Computing the final flight plan with the modified route

Modifying a route on the map

To modify a route graphically on the map

1.  After completing the Basic Information section on the Create Flight Plan page, compute a route and click View on Map next to the computed route.
The Map View pane displays the selected route and the ROLL OVER TO VIEW/EDIT pane.

2.  Hover the cursor over the ROLL OVER TO VIEW/EDIT pane.
The pane expands to display a list of routes.

3.  Click Edit next to a route.
The editable waypoints and the route segments are displayed as icons on the map and the Map View footer displays the Original Route, Modified Route, Validate Route, Undo Previous and Exit options.

Note:

·   Click Undo Previous to discard the last edit operation.

·   Click Exit to abort the route editing operation.

·   Click a waypoint in the Modified Route to highlight the waypoint on the map.

4.  Modify the route by performing the following:

·    Replace an existing waypoint in a route

·    Add a new waypoint in a route

·    Delete an existing waypoint in a route

·    Add a new SID/STAR in a route

·    Delete an existing SID/STAR in a route

·    Add/modify an airway in a route segment

5.  Click Validate Route to verify the modified route using the flight plan engine.

6.  If the modifications are successfully verified, the message Route Validation Successful appears. Go to step 7

If the modifications are not successfully verified, an < error > message appears. Go to step 4 and modify the route as needed.

7.  Click Select Route.
The modified route is displayed in the User Defined route under the Routes & Performance pane.

8.  Proceed with the cruise mode calculations to compute the flight plan.
